These eight paintings are hung together to emphasize the importance of the word "etz" - "tree" as mentioned in the Torah. Each painting is constructed of 2 seperate paintings affixed to one another. The smaller, black and white painting, representing the time period of the Torah is affixed to the larger color painting, representing our modern times. The "Etz Haim" is a tree of life, connecting us to our ancestors.
